In a bizarre crossover event that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Disclosed

According to the authorized announcement, "A strange meeting leads characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses reverberate through the shadows." The storyline presents a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine sect.

The mission centers on "bizarre experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Iconic Locations and Changes

The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a dramatic sequence showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Prizes and Additional Material

Players who accomplish the quest will receive an special katana in addition to multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special implements
• Survey Corps mount

Third Free Story Update

This patch also brings the game's newest free story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime franchises. The series previously featured a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that clearly referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
